Thurs day morning was nice, but it was scheduled to get hot again later in the day. Hurrican Allen has killed 66 people in its devastating surge across the Caribbean toward the Gulf of Mexico. Tryouts for the Little Theater’s "An Inspector Calls", will be held tonight at 7:30 at the Fine Arts Center. The formal dedication of Woodland Park will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Parking area off Chestnut Street. Construction has started on the stone steps that will lead from Trade Street up the railroad bank to the Depot Meeting Monday night will be the Tryon Town Council at 7:30 p.m. at the Tryon Town Hall; the Columbus Town Council at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Town Hall; the Tryon School Board at 7:30 p.m. in the Supt’s. office at the high School. The Polk County Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m in executive session and then the regular meeting at 8 p.m in the Agricultural Confer ence room in the courthouse annex. Landrum Cardinals Football Schedule The Landrum Cardinals open their 1980 football season Aug. 29th with a football jamboree with Chapman, Christ Church and Jonesville. All games will be at 8 p.m. The schedule is as follows: Aug. 29 — Football Jamboree — at Landrum Sept. 5 — Chapman — home 12 — Polk Central — home 19 — Chesnee — there 26 — Blue Ridge — home Oct 3 — Tryon — there 10 —- .Christ Church — there 17 — Oakway — home 24 — Calhoun Falls — home Oct. 31 — Dixie — there Tryon Tigers Football Schedule The Tryon Tigers open their 9-game schedule on Sept 12th when they play the North Carolina School for the Deaf at Tryon. One new team on the schedule is Pendleton, S. C. Gone from last year schedule is Patterson School of Lenoir and Hcarthwood Hall of Columbia. The schedule is as follows: Sept. 12 — NCSD — home 19 — Cherokee — home 26 — Rosman — home Oct. 3 — Landrum — home 10 — Edneyville — there 17 — Chesnee — there 24 — Pendleton — there 31 — Lockhart — there Nov. 7 — Polk Central — there Move Here Mr. and Mrs. Howard J. Liechty of Mason, New Hamp shire have bought the home of Mr and Mrs. Maxie Foster on Red Bird Lane in Tryon. The Fosters have moved into their new home near Landrum Lois Reynolds of Tryon Properties and John Knoblock were the brokers. Mr. Liechty is a native of Indiana. He is a graduate of Blufton College in Blufton, Ohio and received his masters degree at Cornell University. He was editor and publisher of materials and publications for the blind with offices in New York City. Mrs. Liechty is a native of Massachuetts. She is a graduate of Smith College and received her masters in Elementary Educa lion at Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Mass. She taught in the public schools of New Hampshire and was on the faculty of Fitchburg State College. Mr. Liechty enjoys gardening and woodworking while Mrs. Liechty shares the gardening interest and likes to sail. This is the second marriage for both Mrs. Liechty has a son, Dr Theodore W Foot, who is Supt of School in Wilton, Conn ; and a son. Robert L. Foot, who is vice president of Flagstaff Bank in Boynton, Fla. She recently lost another son, David W. Fool who was a pilot and made his home in Minnetonka, Minn Mr Liechty has a daughter, Mrs Charles 0 White of Newport Continued On Back Page Mrs. J. W. Taylor Painfully Injured Mr and Mrs. J. W. Taylor of Lake Lanier were getting ready to pick some okra Wednesday morning when their pick-up truck rolled forward and hit Mrs. Taylor and knocked her to the ground and rolled over her. Mr and Mrs. Joe Wray have a small garden plot at the Community Garden at Tryon High School and had asked Mr. and Mrs Taylor to cut the okra while they were gone. The Taylors had pulled off the road and were parked on a small incline near the school and were walking to the Community Garden Spot. Mrs. Taylor walked in front of the pick-up truck and as she did, the truck began to roll and knocked her to the ground and rolled on her. Mr. Taylor backed the truck off to free her and then went to the school for help and to get someone to call the ambulance.
